Scripture: Acts 2:22-36
Wouldn't it be great if we always had an explanation for everything that happened to us? We could know why we got a flat tire. Why we failed that test. Why it was difficult for us to have kids. Why our boss was the way that he or she was. God doesn't always give us this knowledge, but during Pentecost Peter explained to the crowd why all the stuff surrounding Jesus had to happen.
How does Peter explain what happened? By quoting Scripture. Peter references Psalm 16, a passage in their Hebrew Scriptures to explain that David wrote about these events. He explained to the crowd that the Messiah was going to have to die and come back to life and that this Messiah is Jesus!
When we think that God has forgotten us because of all the bad things that are happening, remember that Sunday (Resurrection Day!) is coming. We might have seen it die, we might wake up the next day and remember all the terrible things that happened the day before, but we know the end of the story - Jesus comes back from the dead!
Is this a major part of your story? Are you stuck seeking an explanation or are you living in the victory that Jesus has provided? Trust him, and see your life in a whole new way - with an understanding that because of Jesus, no matter what you face in your life, you win!
