Prayer Stations

I was first introduced to prayer stations during college. At the most basic level, prayer stations are places designated for a certain prayer focus with some sort of hands on activity. Some stations have crafts, others have a place to write down things, others just encourage personal thoughts.

You can check out the attached file at the bottom of this article for directions for each prayer station.

Students (and leaders – great multi-generational event!), show up at a station. I encourage them to travel in pairs. Read the directions, and do what it says.

It was awesome reading through some of the stations that have students write down and reflect on their prayers.

  • I read some amazing things about how God’s word has impacted lives.

  • I saw how God was calling us to love everyone.

  • I saw some great goals that students had for the year.

  • I saw what students were thinking and how God could speak truth into their lives through His Word.

My personal favorite station is the Letters to God station. At this station, you write a letter to God, expressing your heart to him, and seal your letter in an envelope. Next year, at the next prayer station event, I hand out all the letters back to the students and encourage them to consider what God has done in their life over the last year. It is amazing to me to see where God has led and what He has done in my life over the last year. It’s a really neat activity that I hope you would do with your family, group, or ministry!

I would love to hear about other prayer station ideas that you have done.
