Scripture: Proverbs 7:1-9
One of the most popular reasons why people are not Christians, or do not live out the faith they grew up with, is because they feel like they want the opportunity to live it up. They feel like they have been living with too many unnecessary rules from God (usually as enforced by their parents) and when they get the opportunity to make their own choices, that’s exactly what they do. They find themselves going places they never thought they’d go and meeting people they’d never thought they’d meet. But this is just what you do when you have freedom and get to live it up? …Right?
In Proverbs 7:1-9 the father, like the Heavenly Father, gives his son some wisdom. He tells his son to follow his advice and treasure his commands. He tells him to remember his instructions as often as possible and let the instructions impact the way that he thinks and feels and what he does.
If you do this, then you will obey my commands and live! You will truly live it up.
If you do not do this, then you will get into situations that are not good and lead you into a messed up life.
Obedience = Freedom.
Freedom without obedience = Destruction.
Love wisdom. Have insight. Live it up in the freedom God provides. Don’t be held back by your own destructive choices.
