Crowd or Crew?

When it comes to church, which one are you?

Part of the Crowd: I come to get the message into me.

Part of the Crew: I go to get the message out.

What makes a person change from being a part of the crowd to being a part of the crew? What makes a person love their gym so much that not only do they work out there but they get other people to work out there with them? What makes a person love their doctor so much that not only do they see him or her for their own care but they get other people to see that doctor as well? What makes a person enjoy a product so much that not only do they buy into the product but they encourage others to buy it as well?

Mark 5:18-20 - As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon possessed begged to go with him. But Jesus said, “No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.” So the man started off to visit the Ten Towns of that region and began to proclaim the great things Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed at what he told them.

God wants all people to be saved and be followers of Jesus (1 Timothy 2:4). When Jesus had a chance to add another person to his “crowd” he felt like this man was supposed to be part of his “crew.”

Who’s crew are you in? Why do you get that message out? Are you in Jesus’ crew? Are you in the crew at your church? Do you attend church to get a message into you or do you focus on going out and getting the message out?
