Event Schedule and Flow

5:30pm – Frozen T-Shirt Race

5:45pm – Matching Game Relay

6:00pm – Rope Race

6:30pm – Egg to the Top

Secret Advantages

Everyone loves to find hidden things, especially when they lead to some "cool" prizes. Make something like these below. Roll up the papers, and stick them around your picnic place. It is also an interesting way to engage those who might be near your event but not necessarily a part of your event. Write "Secret Advantage" on the outside of your rolled up paper and see everyone go searching!

Frozen T-Shirt Race

Freeze a couple T-Shirts and make it a race to see who can put their T-Shirt on first. Give each person or group a frozen shirt and their goal is to do whatever it takes to put the shirt on.

Make sure to soak the T-Shirt in water and then wring it out before you freeze it. If you have too much water frozen in the T-Shirt you will need all day to thaw it out (I know this from experience :/). Put your wet T-Shirt in a plastic bag and freeze it in the freezer. Everyone will have a blast throwing the T-Shirt on the ground and rubbing it to warm it up. You've got to work hard to pull it apart and get it on.

Great activity on a hot summer day!

Matching Game Relay

One of the most fun, easy games is to make your own matching game. Find random, funny, and unexpected images on the internet and put about 10 on a piece of paper. Print 2 copies of each page and cut out the images. Lay out the cards in a grid format and play the classic game memory. Flip over 2 cards. If you find a match, keep the cards and pick again. Add an additional element of relay with a team and/or running to get to the memory game location.

Rope Race

A great Survivor challenge involves making your way through a rope course. Tie the rope down near the starting line and lock in your participants with a carabiner or just holding onto a rubber band or metal book ring. You can't let go of the ring around the rope. Work as a team to move around posts where the rope is wrapped around. Don't remove the posts.

Throughout the course you can add additional elements. Add a mental element to the course by adding a puzzle. A simple way to add a puzzle is to buy a one dollar 24 piece puzzle from the dollar store and put the pieces in a plastic bag. You can also add a skill element like throwing beanbags onto targets.

Egg to the Top

In Survivor, the contestants sometimes have to throw things onto an elevated platform. It's hard to build an elevated platform in the middle of a field. But it's pretty simple to put a few inexpensive PVC pipes together and duck tape a bowl to the top of the tall pipe.

I thought, wouldn't it be fun to use raw eggs and try to be the first person to get your egg to the top without breaking your egg. You've got to throw it to get it up there. Once your egg breaks, either on the ground or maybe even in the bowl, you are out. (Make sure your bowl on top of the PVC pipes is strong enough to catch the eggs. Also, you can make your PVC pipe out of multiple sections to change the "level" of difficulty.)

Have fun trying these Survivor themed/inspired games!
